STREAM activity

STREAM activity

In a rapid world that is ever dynamic, education is no exception. New ways of learning are continually being evolved as education expands beyond the normal classroom setting.

On 19th February MBIS Primary and Pre-primary teachers had conducted STREAM activities for students from Nursery to Grade 5 that encompassed science, technology, reading, engineering, art, and math, where students developed new skills, such as creative and critical thinking.

Science activities like lava lamp, walking water, magic with balloon, salty circuit, lift the bridge and fun with dry ice, and Engineering activities like homemade catapult, jet cart, paddle boat, building playdough structures and robotic hand offered the students a chance to learn valuable skills and techniques The library offered a fun and relaxed atmosphere, where students enjoyed the puppet show ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and also engaged themselves in reading. The pista shells, ear bud painting and Origami Paper weaving in Art and the Music and dance movement were thoroughly by all; the small and the big ones alike, wherein the students were able experience art, creativity and music in new ways.
As Albert Einstein said “Play is the highest form of research”… STREAM activities at MBIS just helped the students to do so.

Webinar’ How to make your child Future Ready

Webinar’ How to make your child Future Ready

Our students’ future is an uncertain one. Their workforce will look much different than ours. We as Educators have a daunting task. It’s our job to help students prepare for a workforce that we can’t describe. To enlighten us on this on 5th February 22 Ms Farzana Dohadwala conducted a workshop in which all teachers participated wherein she spoke on.
How to make your child Future Ready’

At MBIS we think there are certain skills that are timeless, that we can help students develop which will serve them no matter what the future will look like. We think these skills can help students become “future ready.” One of the main skills that we develop is ‘Learning to learn’ where we give students as much control of their learning as we can, be it through ‘Student Led Learning’ or the ‘Student Led Conferences’ that we have. Helping students to become adept at learning new tools, and giving students opportunities and situations where communication skills, problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, and creative skills are some of the other skills that are developed. Encouraging every student to find their own way and with curricula that emphasize experiential learning, collaboration, and a focus on the learner’s own interests, needs, and motivation – is what teachers do at MBIS to make students “future ready.”

Teacher Enrichment Program

Teacher Enrichment Program

On Friday 11th February 22 Ms Farzana Dohadwala conducted a Teacher Enrichment program for the entire staff of MBIS, wherein the topic was ‘Using drama in teaching and learning.’
In early years drama can be developed through role-play, singing along and through play. Using Drama in teaching and learning develops imagination and creativity. Creative students can think on their feet and generate new ideas. Drama also builds confidence in shy and introverted students.

1

It has been found that using drama in teaching and learning makes a lesson more active, engaging, interesting and more meaningful for students which enhances critical and creative thinking skills, helping students to create and formulate ideas and opinions of their own. Drama helps concentration as children are encouraged to listen to others’ thoughts and ideas and to take turns.

4

In conclusion she said using drama as a teaching strategy, teachers will be adopting the whole brain approach that will be the foundation of all future developments of multi-intelligence teaching approaches.

Language Day

Language Day

We took a break from our regular routine on 18th February’22 to celebrate Language Day in the Primary section at MBIS. The students of Grades 1 and 2 really enjoyed watching ‘The Cat in the Hat’ and the contagious laughter of students from Grades 3 to 5 as they watched ‘Dr. Dolittle’ was a treat to our ears.
Interesting and thought provoking games that were played by the teachers created an interest in students to learn better vocabulary which was the cherry on the cake. Though the hybrid celebration was a challenge, yet we accomplished what we set out to celebrate…

World Read Aloud Day

World Read Aloud Day

World Read Aloud Day makes us feel excited and inspired to celebrate reading aloud. In the Primary section at MBIS students Celebrated World Read Aloud Day by grabbing their favourite story book and reading out loud. Each student chose an excerpt to read to the class. We could not but agree with Mason Cooley especially during this pandemic, who said ‘‘Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are”

Guest speaker-Author and Writer Deepak Dalal

On Monday, 14th February 22, the students of Grades 3 to 5 had a marvelous time interacting with renowned author and writer Mr Deepak Dalal. The students were really impressed with the information about birds and the beautiful pictures that were shown from the ‘Feather Tale Series’. The interaction resulted in the students being inspired not only to read more books, write more creative stories but also imbibe the value that birds should never be caged and that their freedom to fly must never be curtailed. All in all a very interesting and fruitful hour spent together as we look forward to many more such hours being spent with Mr Deepak Dalal.
