Language Day – Primary section

Language Day – Primary section

We took a break from our regular routine on 18th February’22 to celebrate Language Day in the Primary section at MBIS. The students of Grades 1 and 2 really enjoyed watching ‘The Cat in the Hat’ and the contagious laughter of students from Grades 3 to 5 as they watched ‘Dr. Dolittle’ was a treat to our ears.

Interesting and thought-provoking games that were played by the teachers created an interest in students to learn better vocabulary which was the cherry on the cake. Though the hybrid celebration was a challenge, we accomplished what we set out to celebrate…

World Read Aloud Day

World Read Aloud Day

“World Read Aloud Day” is celebrated on 2nd February 2022 to promote literacy to the world at large. It is a mission for “strengthening kids and communities through the power of stories.”

According to research, reading aloud has many benefits for you and your family. People find an emotional escape in stories, especially when they are read aloud. Children who spend time reading aloud are more likely to understand different people and cultures, have empathy, and deepen their imagination skills.

MBIS celebrated “World Read Aloud Day”, by reading picture books in the class and discussing the story with their classmates.

STEAM Workshop

STEAM Workshop

“Sound is the vocabulary of nature and how it works is the design of nature”. Keeping this in mind, we at Mainadevi Bajaj International School arranged a workshop for students in collaboration with STEAM Academy and Museum on Wheels. It was an enriching and insightful session as the Science Educator Abhishek Arekar enlightened the students with the concept of how sound helped ancestors survive & How ears collect sound waves and the brain decodes it. Children enjoyed and had a fulfilling experience.

MBIS Lit Fest

MBIS hosted a Lit Fest for students from Grades 6-12. Students exhibited their prowess through various events that formed a part of an inter-house competition. Each event was a means to depict the diversity of art and literary forms that the participants resonated with the most.

Some students put up Puppetry shows adapted from their favourite novels, while some others used Slam Poetry to showcase their poetic candour.
The classic Story writing showcased the creativity of the participants who used prompts provided to bring characters to life.
Through the medium of Drama (both, in English and Hindi), few other students celebrated the aspect of languages being a driving force within the literature.

Lastly, Open Mic revealed the hidden talent preserved at MBIS.

The event culminated into a perfect blend of art, music, drama and talent to encourage students and provide a much-needed impetus.

On the occasion of the MBIS Lit Fest, the famous author and nature-lover, Ms Katie Bagli was invited to interact with the students of Grades 6-9 virtually.

She spoke at length about her book –’Ishaan’s Treasure’ which is an interesting compilation of Marine Life and Coastal Biodiversity along the sea coasts of Mumbai. The book describes the journey of a young boy named Ishaan who became a marine enthusiast.

The Beautiful illustration of marine life and some lesser-known species in the book changes our perception towards conservation and the need to protect coastal biodiversity and Mangrove forest habitat.

This year the students celebrated the 73rd Republic Day on Tuesday the 25th of January.
Though the celebration was virtual, the spirit of independent and individual India was very much present as teachers spoke to the students about the reasons for the celebration.
Republic day festivities paint the nation into a tricolour of nationalism, harmony and prosperity. The students enjoyed doing tri-colour activities and made tricolour sandwiches and tricolour fruit salad.🧡🤍💚
