A Night of Harmony: MBIS Mumbai’s Annual Day 2026 Celebrates Nayi Disha Naya Sur

On the evening of Thursday, 22 January 2026, the PDSA Ground at the RSET Campus in Malad came alive with lights, music, and the infectious energy of young performers. Mainadevi Bajaj International School (MBIS), consistently ranked among the best international schools in Mumbai, hosted its much-anticipated Annual Day. The theme perfectly captured the school’s philosophy: Nayi Disha, symbolising new directions and courageous exploration of potential, and Naya Sur, representing the discovery of one’s unique voice.

A Philosophy Brought to Life

As families settled into their seats, the air buzzed with anticipation. For months, hundreds of dedicated students—from the tiniest tots in nursery to the accomplished seniors—had poured their hearts into rehearsals.

At MBIS Mumbai, such events are more than just performances; they are vital milestones in a journey of holistic development. The theme captured the school’s core philosophy, with Nayi Disha symbolising new directions and courageous exploration of potential, and Naya Sur representing the discovery of one’s unique voice.

Together, they embodied harmony—personal growth that connects individuals to each other and to the wider world.

The Journey of Transformation

The preparation process itself became a powerful story of transformation. Students balanced demanding academic schedules with rigorous rehearsals, mastering time management, overcoming challenges, and memorising intricate details.

Teachers and coordinators watched with pride as students blossomed, with younger ones looking up to their seniors and cross-grade collaborations fostering unbreakable bonds. This journey underscored the school’s commitment to education that extends far beyond the classroom.

An Evening of Spectacular Celebration

The three-and-a-half-hour programme unfolded seamlessly and was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Hemarupa Caitanya Das, a revered spiritual educator whose lifelong work in values-based learning aligns closely with MBIS Mumbai’s mission.

The evening opened on a powerful patriotic note with the Girl Gang Band’s stirring rendition of Jana Gana Mana, followed by a thoughtfully crafted skit on Bharat tracing the origin of India’s name through the story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant.

Energy soared with a vibrant wedding ceremony performance blending masala and Bollywood numbers, while contemporary expression took centre stage with a confident rap performance by students Om and Ridhansh.

A moving skit combined with the Kalchakra dance offered a poignant portrayal of contemporary realities, followed by a grand finale featuring Operation Sindoor and an acclaimed Shadow Dance depicting India’s Journey of Progress.
